Gamecocks Open SEC Tournament Tuesday

 COLUMBIA, S.C. – After earning a first-round bye as the No. 6 seed in the SEC Men’s Tennis Tournament, No. 13 South Carolina will face No. 42 Auburn on Tue., Apr. 20, at 10 a.m. ET at the George M. Billingsley Tennis Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
 
Gamecock Notables

  • The Gamecocks finished the regular season tied for fourth in the SEC, claiming the No. 6 seed in the tournament due to tiebreakers among the four teams tied for fourth.
  • The Gamecocks finished their regular season 13-8 with a 7-5 record in SEC play. Three of the five losses were to teams with higher rankings.
  • Four Gamecocks are ranked in singles – No. 2 Daniel Rodrigues, No. 25 Connor Thomson, No. 59 Raphael Lambling and No. 93 Toby Samuel.
  • In SEC singles, South Carolina is 41-25, with Rodrigues and Samuel leading the team with nine wins each.
  • The Gamecocks’ top three doubles teams are 14-15 in SEC play and doubles team of No. 20 Rodrigues and Thomson leading the Gamecocks with a 6-4 SEC doubles record, playing in the No. 1 spot.

  • South Carolina is 11-27 all-time in the SEC Tournament with a pair of trips to the semifinals in 1999 and 2019.
  • In the most recent SEC Tournament, South Carolina went to the semifinals for the second time in program history when it defeated Texas A&M 4-2.
  • The Gamecocks are 10-15 in the first and second rounds of the SEC Tournament

Scouting the Tigers

The winner of Tuesday morning’s match will face the tournament’s third seed, No. 9 Georgia, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET.
