Baseball Travels to Oxford for a Weekend Series at Ole Miss
The series starts Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team heads to Oxford, Miss., for a three-game conference set with Ole Miss. The series begins on Friday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT). The series continues Saturday, May 1 at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) and concludes Sunday, May 2 at 12:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. CT). Saturday’s game will be televised on SEC Network with Roy Philpott and David Dellucci on the call. Friday and Sunday’s games will be streamed on SEC Network Plus. Every Gamecock contest will be on the Gamecock Radio Network with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call. Carolina is coming off a 9-5 win over The Citadel on Tuesday night. Jack Mahoney struck out six in 7.2 innings pitched, while Noah Myers had a grand slam, one of three Gamecock homers on the night.

SCOUTING OLE MISS
The Rebels won the final game of the three-game set against LSU, 9-8, as Ole Miss came back from an 8-1 deficit to salvage the series finale against the Tigers. TJ McCants leads Ole Miss with a .345 batting average and had a grand slam in that Saturday win over LSU. On the mound, Doug Nikhazy has 70 strikeouts in 44.2 innings pitched to go along with a 4-2 record and a 1.81 ERA.
SERIES VS. OLE MISS
Carolina and Ole Miss will meet for the first time since 2018 this weekend. The Gamecocks hold a 37-24 series advantage and took 2-of-3 from the Rebels in Columbia three years ago. Justin Row was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in the 2018 series opener. Carolina is 16-11 all-time against Ole Miss in Oxford.
LATE RALLY LIFTS CAROLINA PAST NUMBER ONE
The Gamecocks scored four runs in the sixth and two in the eighth in overcoming a 2-0 deficit in a 6-2 win over No. 1 Arkansas on April 23. Colin Burgess drove in a pair of runs in the win and George Callil had a big RBI single in the sixth inning. Andrew Peters struck out three in three hitless innings and Brett Kerry picked up a save with three strikeouts in 1.1 innings of work. It’s the first win over a number one team since Carolina beat Florida in 2016.
ALLEN RANKS IN SEC PLAY
Brady Allen is hitting .295 with 14 runs scored, four doubles, seven home runs and 18 RBI after 18 conference games. He is tied for fourth in the conference in home runs, tied for fourth with five stolen bases, fifth with 48 total bases and tied for eighth in RBI.
