Boesel Named To Academic All-District Team
Fourth-straight year she's been selected
COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina softball’s Mackenzie Boesel was named to the 2021 NCAA Division I District 4 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced today.
A native of Yorba Linda, Calif., Boesel graduated with a degree in sport and entertainment a year early and maintained her perfect 4.00 GPA through graduate school.
Boesel was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team in 2020 and 2019 after being named to the third team in 2018. She’s the 10th Gamecock in program history to earn Academic All-America honors and the third under head coach Beverly Smith.
Alongside Ashley Smith (2003-06), Boesel is one of just two student-athletes in program history to be named an Academic All-American three times. She’s the first in Carolina’s history to earn multiple first-team selections.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late July.
Boesel was recently named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American for the first time in her career. Selected to the third team, she became the second Gamecock to earn All-America accolades under Smith.
