Norway native finished third in the 2019 R&A Girls Amateur Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s golf announced the addition of one player in the early signing class for 2022, as Mia Sandtorv Lussand (Bergen, Norway) signed a National Letter of Intent on Thursday.
 
“I am extremely excited to officially welcome Mia to the Gamecock women’s golf family,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “Having been a member of the Norwegian National Team throughout her junior golf career, Mia has accumulated a wealth of competitive experience in the world’s top events. Mia is an extremely long ball-striker and possesses extraordinary talent. Her highly motivated personality is a perfect fit within our program, and I look forward to assisting her in achieving her lofty goals.”

Mia Sandtorv Lussand (Bergen, Norway – Wang Top Athlete School)
 Daughter of Tor Ove Lussand and Elin Sandtorv – has an older sister (Malene), older brother (Mathias) and a younger sister (Marie)
Ranked 235th in the latest WAGR
Over the last two years, has recorded 20 top-10 finishes and four wins in 28 counting events played for her WAGR position
Finished third at the 2019 R&A Girls Amateur Championship ; won her first four bouts in match play before falling 4&2 in the semifinals to Austria’s Isabella Holpfer (sophomore at Georgia now)
Silver medalist in the Norwegian National Women Stroke Play Championship in 2021 with 2-under score over 72 holes of golf
Winner of the U19 OoM for Girls in Norway (2019, 2021)
Winner OoM for Women in Norway (2019)
Had a pair of top-20 finishes in 2021 playing in several LET Access Series events (professional golf tour and development tour to the Ladies European Tour)
Career best 54-hole score is 17-under
• Plans to major in business
• Chose South Carolina over Texas, TCU, Oklahoma State and Southern Cal
