Hall Tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week After Augusta Win

Junior earned second career victory in playoff after final round 64 (-8) with two eagles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — South Carolina’s Ryan Hall, fresh off his second career victory, was named SEC Golfer of the Week on Thursday afternoon the league office announced. The junior and three-year starter came from six shots back on Easter Sunday to win the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational.

He shot 64 (-8) in the final round with four birdies and a pair of eagles. Hall chipped in for eagle on his final hole, the par-5 ninth, to force a playoff with Pepperdine’s Dylan Menante. He made birdie on hole ten twice to come out on top and take home medalist honors. The Knoxville, Tenn., native finished with a score of 202 (-14) and carded a bogey free 66 (-6) in the second round after opening with a 72 (E).

With the victory, Hall earned a sponsor exemption into the PGA TOUR’s 3M Open this summer in Blaine, Minn.

Hall is the top-ranked player in the SEC, leading the league in scoring average at 69.67. He’s ranked fifth in the country in the latest Golfstat Player Rankings. Hall has been Mr. Consistent, finishing in the top-20 in all eight starts with a career-best five top-10s and three top-fives. He’s shot par or better in 20 of his 24 rounds played.

The weekly conference honor marks Hall’s first since being named SEC Freshman of the Week back on April 3, 2019. He was named to the Haskins Award Watch List back on March 12.

The Gamecocks are off until the 2021 SEC Championship (April 21-25). This marks the 20th year the conference tournament will take place at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course in St. Simons Island, Ga.
