The Gamecocks defeated The Citadel on Tuesday before falling in three games at Ole Miss.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, defeating The Citadel on Tuesday night before dropping three games at Ole Miss.

NOTES:
Jack Mahoney did not allow a run in 7.2 innings pitched in a win over The Citadel on Tuesday night. Mahoney struck out six and allowed just five hits in the win. He improved his ERA to 1.10 while moving to 3-0 on the season.
 
Wes Clarke belted his 16th home run of the year in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader with Ole Miss. Clarke is now tied with Florida’s Jud Fabian for the home run lead in the SEC and also has 38 RBI on the season.
 
Julian Bosnic pitched 2.2 hitless innings in the second half of the doubleheader vs. Ole Miss on Saturday night. He now has 57 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched.
 
Braylen Wimmer currently is tied for the SEC lead with 13 doubles. He doubled in Carolina’s 9-5 win over The Citadel on Tuesday night.
 
After 41 games played, Carolina’s team ERA sits at 3.57, which is second in the league. The staff also has 484 strikeouts compared to 157 walks.
 
With two games still to be played on Sunday, Carolina currently is in fourth place in the East Division at 11-10. They hold a game lead on both Georgia and Kentucky and trail Florida by 1.5 games. Overall, Carolina has the seventh-best record in the league.
 
The Gamecocks will play four games at Founders Park this week, hosting North Florida on Tuesday night before facing Mississippi State for a three-game weekend set.
