Anderson Announces 2021 Fall Schedule

Gamecocks set to play in the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup at The Alotian Club

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s golf announced its four-event fall schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The Gamecocks will return to the Annika Invitational (9/13-9/15) to open the season. It will mark the team’s seventh appearance in the last eight seasons at the prestigious fall event.

Carolina will then travel to Chicago for the team’s third appearance at the Windy City Collegiate Classic (10/4-10/5). The Gamecocks won the event their last appearance in 2019 as First Team All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, then a true freshman, earned medalist honors for her first collegiate victory.

The team will then play in the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup (Oct. 18-20) at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. The newly formed annual tournament is 54-holes of stroke play followed by match play to determine the team champion. The event is named in memory of late Augusta National Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens. It will feature seven of the of the top NCAA Division I men’s and women’s teams as well as an eighth team on each side competing at the invitation of the host club.

Following the Stephens Cup, the Gamecocks will conclude the fall portion at a staple on the schedule since 2010, the Landfall Tradition. UNC-Wilmington host the event at the Country Club of Landfall with play taking place on the Dye Course. South Carolina has won the event twice (2016 and 2019).

“One of my objectives each year is to schedule our team on the best golf courses and against the best tournament fields in the country,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “Our fall schedule will certainly not disappoint, as I am excited for our Gamecocks to compete each week in tournaments that are absolutely loaded with top-25 nationally ranked teams. This consistent, highly competitive environment will be beneficial in developing our players and preparing our team for post-season championship play.”
