Softball Drops Game Two of Alabama Series
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina softball dropped game two of its series against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday afternoon (Mar. 26), 10-2. The Gamecocks enter the series finale with an overall record of 18-12 and 2-6 in SEC play.
Riley Blampied drove in both runs for Carolina in the bottom of the fourth. A leadoff walk to Hannah Kumiyama started the inning before Katie Prebble reached on a fielder’s choice. Down 0-2 in the count, Blampied connected on a pitch on the outside corner, and hit it down the right field line, into the corner. Her double scored Prebble all the way from first and also brought home pinch runner Marissa Gonzalez.
Alabama’s first four runs were all unearned. The Tide broke open the tight game in the sixth, scoring three runs before adding two more in the seventh.
Karsen Ochs started in the circle for South Carolina, suffering the loss despite allowing two unearned runs on two hits, in two innings of work.
