No. 4 South Carolina Rolls to Victory at Liz Murphey
Gamecocks notched fourth win of season as all five players finished in the top-25
ATHENS, Ga. — No. 4 South Carolina notched its fourth win of the season on Sunday in dominant fashion at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The Gamecocks shot another field-best score with a final round 288 (E) to win by eight strokes over No. 16 Texas A&M.
“This group played extremely disciplined golf this weekend in very windy, tough conditions,” said head coach Kalen Anderson. “They stayed committed to the process, which paid dividends. I’m proud of this team and where we’re headed.”
Freshman Louise Rydqvist made another climb up the leaderboard in round three, shooting 69 (-3) thanks to a team-best five birdies. It’s the first career top-five for Rydqvist. Fellow freshman Hannah Darling also T-5th at 3-over for the tournament. Darling, who was recently named to the final ANNIKA Award Watch List, has finished in the top-30 in every start. She leads the team with three top-fives now.

Junior Justine Fournand was the final counting score today with a 74 (+2) despite a pair of double bogeys. She made four birdies on the day and finished T-25th at 11-over. Sophomore Paula Kirner played as an individual this week and finished T-69th at 25-over. She shot 78 (+6) in the final round today.
Today’s victory marked the 21st of Anderson’s career at South Carolina. The win also tied last season’s team for the most in a single season in program history.
