Gamecocks Fall to 18th Ranked Tigers
CLEMSON, S.C. – South Carolina softball fell 8-1 in its road game at 18th ranked Clemson Wednesday night (Mar. 30). The Gamecocks now sit at 18-14 overall on the season.
Riley Blampied led Carolina at the dish, going 2-for-3 on the night. The Gamecocks ended the night with five hits, while the Tigers finished with seven.
South Carolina’s run came in the third inning, as Aaliyah White led off with a single up the middle. White went to second on a wild pitch, third on a groundout, before scoring on another wild pitch.
The Tigers scored five runs in the first, including a three-run home run. They added an unearned run in the second and solo home runs in the fifth and sixth.
Bailey Betenbaugh took the loss, allowing five runs, three earned, on three hits. Leah Powell came on in relief and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits, while striking out five in 5 1-3 innings.
The Gamecocks travel to 24th ranked Missouri for an SEC series April 1-3.
