Trinity Hammerschmidt Earns NCEA All-America Honors

Columbia, S.C. – Senior Trinity Hammerschmidt earned NCEA Ariat All-America Honors on the flat, the conference announced Thursday. She was selected to the flat second team to earn the first honor of her career.

“Trinity has been consistently strong on the flat for the last two years,” said head coach Boo Major. “Her understanding of how to ride different horses on the flat and her desire to improve is beyond reproach. We can always rely on Trinity to give her all and she is most deserving of this honor.”

Hammerschmidt finished the regular season 9-3-0 on the flat, boasting the best record in the event for South Carolina. She earned three Most Outstanding Performer honors in the meets against TCU, Auburn and Georgia. Her Georgia M.O.P. came with her personal best score this season of 86.5 and helped the Gamecocks to the upset at home. At most, she went on a five-meet winning streak. The Montpelier, Virginia, native received Rider of the Month nods in October from both the NCEA and SEC. She notably went 4-0-0 that month to sweep the honor on the flat.

In order to earn a place on the All-America second team, a rider must place in the top-10 in the event in the entire NCEA. Hammerschmidt is the lone Gamecock this season to earn the honor.

South Carolina Equestrian will wrap up its season with the annual team banquet in early April.
