Gamecocks Drop Opening Game of Series to No. 24 Missouri
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina softball dropped the opening game of its series 4-2 at No. 24 Missouri Friday night (Apr. 1).
The Tigers loaded the bases in the first, but starting pitcher Leah Powell was able to limit them to one run.
The Gamecocks took the lead in the third, when they scored both of their runs with two outs. Down 0-2 in the count, Riley Blampied fought back to draw a six-pitch walk. With an 0-1 count, Jordan Fabian connected on her seventh home run of the season, a new career-high.
Missouri added two unearned runs in the bottom of the third, before tacking on another run in the fifth.
Powell threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs, while scattering five hits and striking out four.
Game two of the series will be tomorrow, April 2, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. ET.
