Fabian Homers, But Softball Drops Series Finale to No. 24 Missouri
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The South Carolina softball team dropped the final game of its series at 24th ranked Missouri 2-1 Sunday afternoon (Apr. 3).
Carlie Henderson led Carolina at the plate going 2-for-3 on the day.
South Carolina’s run came in the top of the third. Jordan Fabian had a 12-pitch at-bat, fouling off seven pitches, before connecting on her eighth home run of the season to straightaway center.
Missouri scored a run in the first and added the game-winner on a solo home run in the third.
The Gamecocks loaded the bases in the second, but a double play and a strikeout ended the inning before they were able to push a run across.
Leah Powell took the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in 2 2-3 innings. Bailey Betenbaugh allowed one hit while striking out five in 3 1-2 innings of relief.
South Carolina returns home to host Winthrop on Wednesday, April 6 at 6 p.m.
