Gamecocks Drop Game Two of Series to No. 21 LSU
BATON ROUGE, La. – The South Carolina softball team dropped game two of its series at No. 21 LSU 7-3 Friday night (Apr. 15).
Maddie Gallagher led Carolina at the plate going 2-for-3 on the night. The Gamecock’s put runners on base in each of the first five innings, and the leadoff batter reached in three of those.
The Gamecocks scored all three of their runs in the top of the third. Kassidy Krupit singled to lead things off. After a passed ball and a sacrifice bunt moved pinch runner Giulia Desiderio to third, she scored on a single to left by Jordan Fabian. Gallagher followed with a single of her own, before Hannah Kumiyama scored them both on a double to right-center.
LSU scored twice in the fourth before scoring five unearned runs in the fifth.
Skylar Trahan took the loss, allowing three unearned runs in an inning of work.
The series finale will be tomorrow, April 16, at noon ET and broadcast on the SEC Network.
