Softball Drops Series Finale to 21st Ranked Tigers
BATON ROUGE, La. – The South Carolina softball team dropped the final game of its series at 21st ranked LSU Saturday afternoon (Apr. 16), 8-0 in six innings.
Zoe Laneaux led the Gamecocks going 2-for-3 with a double. Jordan Fabian also reached base twice on a walk and a hit by pitch.
Carolina put runners on base in each of the first five innings of the game. Their best chances for a run came in the second and fourth innings, where they had two runners on.
In the second, Laneaux singled with one out and later, Carlie Henderson hit a single of her own. With one out the in fourth, Laneaux doubled to left-center. Aaliyah White followed by reaching on an infield single to put runners on the corners.
The Tigers jumped out to the early lead, scoring three runs in the first. They would add a run in the third, two in the fourth, before ending the game with two more in the sixth.
In the circle, Leah Powell took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits in 2 1-3 innings.
The Gamecocks return home to host Furman for a doubleheader April 20, with first pitch set for 2 p.m. Entry to the game will be free, and from 4-7 p.m. fans can take pictures with the Atlanta Braves World Series trophy. More information on the event can be found here.
