The Gamecocks defeated Winthrop on Wednesday and fell in three games at Auburn.

COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, defeating Winthrop, 5-2, on Wednesday night and falling in all three games at No. 19 Auburn.

NOTES:
Carolina earned a 5-2 win over Winthrop on Wednesday night as Talmadge LeCroy drove in the game-winning run with a single in the eighth inning. The Gamecocks added two runs in the ninth and Matthew Becker picked up his fourth save by pitching a perfect ninth.
 
Brandt Belk saw his 24-game hitting streak snapped on Saturday, but he currently has a 26-game reached base streak heading into the Alabama series. Belk leads the Gamecocks with a .353 batting average to go along with nine doubles and five home runs.
 
Andrew Eyster had his sixth home run of the season on Friday night against Auburn. Eyster currently leads the Gamecocks with 35 RBI to go with his .321 batting average.
 
John Gilreath pitched five innings for the second straight week as he allowed just one run on two hits with five strikeouts in the five frames. Gilreath also pitched a career-high five innings last week vs. Ole Miss.

Carolina will have the midweek off for final exams and will return to Founders Park for a Thursday-Saturday series with Alabama. Thursday and Saturday’s games will be on SEC Network.
