Gamecocks Out Hit Rebels, Drop Series Finale

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Despite out-hitting Ole Miss, the South Carolina softball team dropped game three of its series against the Rebels 3-0 Sunday afternoon (Apr. 24).

Six different Carolina players had a hit. Jordan Fabian reached base three times, with a double and a pair of walks.

The Gamecocks had the first opportunity to score when they loaded the bases in the third. Katie Prebble led off with a single up the middle. Two outs later, Fabian walked and Zoe Laneaux singled to load the bases before the final out was recorded.

After Ole Miss scored two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh, South Carolina would put the tying run on base, as it loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Prebble was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Kassidy Krupit drew a walk. One out later, Fabian drew another walk to load the bases. That would be where the rally would end, as Ole Miss record the final two outs.

Leah Powell took the loss, recording four strikeouts while allowing two runs on three hits in 4 2-3 innings.

The Gamecocks travel to Arkansas for its final SEC road series of the season April 29-May 1.
