Gamecocks in the MiLB - July 15

The 2022 Minor League Baseball season is in full swing and the Gamecocks are well represented. Here’s an update on the Gamecocks in the Minor Leagues.

Triple A

  • Eddy Demurias has a perfect 2-0 record with a 4.58 ERA in 32 appearances for the Louisville Bats. He has struck out 37 batters in 35.1 innings pitched and had a save in a win over St. Paul on July 10.
  • Grayson Greiner is hitting .244 with 15 runs scored, five doubles, six home runs and 18 RBI for the Reno Aces in 34 games played. Greiner has a .313 on-base percentage and has 29 hits for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate.
  • Tyler Johnson currently is on the injured 7-day list for the Charlotte Knights. He has made six appearances for the Knights and has six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
  • Kyle Martin started the 2022 season in the Mexican League, but was signed by the San Diego Padres and is currently playing for the El Paso Chihuahuas. He is hitting .232 with five doubles, eight home runs, 22 RBI and 11 walks. Martin had two home runs and six RBI against Las Vegas on June 17.
  • John Parke has appeared in 17 games and made 15 starts for the Charlotte Knights and has 75 strikeouts in 89.2 innings pitched. He earned a win at Louisville on June 9, allowing just two runs in seven innings pitched.
  • Clarke Schmidt has split time between the New York Yankees and Scranton/Wilkes Barre this season. He is currently with the RailRiders and has a 2.63 ERA in four starts with 17 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched.
  • Matt Vogel is 2-1 with a 4.84 ERA in 22.1 innings pitched for the Norfolk Tides. He has 31 strikeouts in 22.1 innings pitched and earned a win against Gwinnett on May 27.
  • Taylor Widener has split time between Arizona and Reno this season. With the Aces, Widener is 0-1 with two holds and a save in 15 appearances and 21 innings pitched. He has 29 strikeouts compared to just five walks.

Double A

  • Luke Berryhill is hitting .252 with 16 doubles, nine home runs, 50 RBI and 50 walks for the Corpus Christi Hooks. He has a .404 slugging percentage and an OPS of .778. Earlier this season, Berryhill had a 51-game reached base streak for the Hooks.
  • Noah Campbell is hitting .276 with 29 runs scored, 14 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 18 RBI for the Biloxi Shuckers. Campbell is slugging at a .402 clip and has six stolen bases on the season.
  • Carlos Cortes has split time between Syracuse and Binghamton this season. Cortes is hitting .256 with 11 doubles, five home runs and 25 RBI for the Rumble Ponies. He also has a .419 slugging percentage.
  • Alex Destino is hitting .246 with seven doubles, five home runs and 25 RBI for the Birmingham Barons. He has walked 30 times in 51 games played and has a .737 OPS.
  • TJ Hopkins is hitting .233 with nine doubles, a triple, 13 home runs, five stolen bases and 44 RBI for the Chattanooga Lookouts. Hopkins belted his 13th home run at Pensacola on July 13.
  • Brett Kerry has a 4.26 ERA with a pair of wins and 77 strikeouts in 67.2 innings pitched for the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Kerry has made 14 starts and had six strikeouts in six innings pitched at Birmingham on June 23.
  • Graham Lawson is 1-1 with 26 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched for the Tennessee Smokies. Lawson has appeared in 17 games for the Smokies and picked up a save vs. Montgomery on May 12.
  • Cody Mincey is 4-4 with a 4.66 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 13 starts for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. He picked up a win at Mississippi on July 10, striking out five in five innings pitched.
  • Carmen Mlodzinksi has a 4.53 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched for the Altoona Curve. He earned a win at Akron on July 6, striking out six in five innings pitched.
  • TJ Shook is 4-2 with a 3.97 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 79.1 innings pitched for the Biloxi Shuckers. Shook has made 17 appearances with 13 starts and earned a win at Chattanooga on June 18, striking out seven in six innings of work.
  • Madison Stokes is currently on the injured 7-day list for the Reading Fightin Phils. Stokes has played in 22 games with six doubles, two home runs and six RBI.

High A

  • Wes Clarke has played in 63 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers this season and has 12 doubles, eight home runs and 42 RBI with a .724 OPS.
  • Thomas Farr has pitched in 13 games with 11 starts for the Dayton Dragons and has 49 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.
  • Daniel Lloyd has split time between Delmarva and Aberdeen this season. With the IronBirds, Lloyd has a 2.03 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 13.1 innings pitched. He also was part of a combined no-hitter on June 18 at Jersey Shore.

Low A

  • Brady Allen is hitting .241 with 12 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 39 RBI for the Jupiter Hammerheads. Allen also has three stolen bases and had three hits vs. Palm Beach on July 8.
  • Brannon Jordan is 3-1 with a 4.07 ERA for the Carolina Mudcats. Jordan has 57 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. He earned a win at Columbia on June 17, pitching the final two innings of play.

Independent

  • LT Tolbert has played in 18 games for the Sioux City Explorers in the American Association and has two doubles, four RBI and 11 walks on the year.
  • Tyler Webb is 2-2 with a 2.40 ERA in 29 appearances for the Long Island Ducks in the Atlantic League. Webb has seven saves and struck out 41 batters in 30 innings pitched.

    Adam Hill and Cody Morris have started rehab after injuries coming out of Spring Training. Morris struck out a pair in a scoreless inning for the ACL Guardians on July 12.
