Hamner Set for ITA Fall National Championships
San Diego, Calif. – South Carolina women’s tennis sophomore Sarah Hamner will compete at the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, Calif., beginning Wednesday. The event will run Nov. 2 through Nov. 6 at the Barnes Tennis Center.
This will be Hamner’s second appearance at the tournament after having earned a spot in the draw from winning the ITA All-American singles title in 2021. The sophomore booked her second appearance at the tournament by winning the ITA Carolina Region Championships in October.
The singles draw features 32 of the best players from around the country. Hamner is one of seven SEC competitors to enter the draw, the most of any conference in the country.
Hamner leads the team with an 11-3 record through the fall season and has earned ranked wins over Nos. 6, 10, 16, 22, 35, and 77. She is coming off a five-match win streak that led her to the ITA Carolina Region title.
No. 2 Hamner will face No. 51 Sydni Ratliff of Ohio State in the first round beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Ratliff earned her ticket to the tournament after finishing as the runner-up at the ITA Midwest Regional.
The Gamecocks have had success at the Fall National Championships in the tournament’s brief five-year history. Hamner advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2021 edition of the event and Megan Davies advanced to the semifinals at the 2019 edition.
Draws and results for the 2022 tournament will be available on the tournament webpage. Live scoring will be provided here and live streaming will be provided here.
