SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — No. 3 South Carolina begins its NCAA Championship quest on Friday morning at Grayhawk Golf Club. The Gamecocks will be paired with top-ranked Stanford and No. 2 Oregon for the opening round, teeing off at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on hole ten.

It marks the 11th NCAA Championship appearance in 15 seasons under Anderson. The program had appeared in the NCAA Championship a total of eight times since 1980 before she took over as head coach in the spring of 2008.

It’s the same five-player lineup as its been all season for Carolina led by standout freshman Hannah Darling, a finalist for the ANNIKA Award and the PING WGCA Freshman of the Year. A First Team All-SEC selection, Darling leads the team in scoring average (72.59) and top-five finishes (5). Her scoring average is the second lowest in program history by a freshman, trailing only First Team All-American Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who is currently playing on the LPGA.

Darling is joined in the lineup by another talented freshman in Louise Rydqvist, who earned Second Team All-SEC honors. She ranks second on the team with a 73.62 scoring average and four top-10 finishes. Rydqvist has finished in the top-20 in eight of her 10 starts.

Junior Justine Fournand, graduate transfer Tai Anudit and junior Mathilde Claisse join the freshmen duo in the lineup this week.

The Gamecocks have had an outstanding year on the course and will look to build on that this week as the team competes for a National Championship. Carolina won a program record five times this season and will be looking to make match play for the second time since its inception at the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship  in 2015.

Twenty-four teams are in the field this week and there will be a cut to the top-15 after 54-holes. The top-eight in the medal round will advance to match play on Tuesday.

Nine schools from the SEC are in the field this year, the most teams ever by a single conference.

Live scoring is available the duration of the tournament via Golfstat.
