No. 5 Equestrian Falls on the Road to No. 7 Georgia

BISHOP, GA – The No. 5 South Carolina Equestrian team (5-3) fell 14-6 on the road Saturday to the No. 7 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (5-3). Emma Lane received MOP honors for her career high ride in Reining. 

How it Happened:

Fences

Natalie Jayne got the points started for the Gamecocks, earning an 86 on Leon to defeat Tessa P. Brown. Despite a new career high of 88, Bella Primavera fell to Emma Reichow with her score of 92 on D-Jan. Madeline Schaefer and Jordan Allen each received an 81 for their rides, but the Bulldogs took the next two points. Trinity Hammeschmidt rounded out the event with a season-high 84 on Constantine to emerge victorious over Jennifer Standoff’s 78. 

Flat

Ellie Beard was the lone scorer in the event, putting up a career high 83 on Manny to beat Jessica Guginsky. Georgia would take the remaining four points, with the Bulldogs’ Sophia Pilla tying the NCEA record earning a 99 on Swank to Schaefer’s 83.

Horsemanship

Kiersten Beckner earned a point for the Gamecocks on Freckles, posting a new season high of 75.5 against Austin Layer’s 75. Alyssa Jipping received her point in another close battle, earning a 71 on Cowboy to Leah Anderson’s 70.5. 

Reining

The Bulldogs won the event 4-1 after the Gamecocks received two zeroes from Haley Turner and Emilia Reuitimann. Captain Emma Lane notched the sole point for South Carolina, earning a career high 76.5 on Ty and the MOP award.
