STATESBORO, Ga. – The South Carolina softball team ran its win streak to nine games Wednesday night (Feb. 22), as the Gamecocks went on the road and defeated Georgia Southern 3-0. Carolina now sits at 9-1 on the year.

Zoe Laneaux powered the Gamecocks to victory, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple, while driving in two.
GSU was threatening in the third with two outs after two batters singled. Karsen Ochs came on in relief of starter Rachel Vaughn and struck out Janai Conklin to end the threat.

Aaliyah White led off the fourth inning with a single to right and Jen Cummings followed with a walk. Both runners moved up a base when Riley Blampied flied out to deep left. Down 0-2 in the count, Laneaux hit a hard ground ball down the right field line, scoring White and pinch runner Kyye Ricks.

The Gamecocks added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Laneaux tripled to lead off the inning. Jordan Fabian brought home pinch runner Carlie Henderson on a groundout to the second baseman.

Ochs earned her third win of the season, striking out two batters as she was perfect over 1 1-3 innings of relief. Vaughan surrendered three hits and struck out three in 2 2-3 innings. Donnie Gobourne earned her third save of the season, striking out seven batters in three innings of work.
