No. 6 Gamecocks to Face No. 1 SMU Mustangs to Wrap Up Home Season

BLYTHEWOOD, SC – The No. 6 South Carolina Equestrian team (5-4) is set to face the No. 1 SMU Mustangs (6-0) at One Wood Farm on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out 

The Gamecocks last faced No. 3 Texas A&M, falling 11-8 on the day at home. The Gamecocks saw MOP honors from two riders, with Natalie Jayne earning the nod with her 82 on Rio in Fences, and Haley Turner picked up her first career MOP honor with a 72 on Nike in Horsemanship.

Scouting the Mustangs

South Carolina last faced SMU on Nov. 19, 2022, coming within two, but ultimately was defeated 11-9. The Gamecocks took Fences 4-1, and Madeline Schaefer earned MOP for her 90 on Dilon in the event.

No. 1 SMU currently reigns undefeated, and most recently took down No. 10 UT Martin 12-6. Thursday’s meeting with the Mustangs will be the 14th in program history, with the Gamecocks leading the all-time series 8-5.
