No. 7 Equestrian To Take on No. 2 Auburn for Final Meet of the Regular Season

BLYTHEWOOD, SC – The No. 7 ranked South Carolina Equestrian team (5-5, 1-4) will hit the road to take on No. 2 Auburn (8-2, 4-1) for the final meet of the regular season on Friday, March 3 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

LAST TIME OUT 

South Carolina last faced the No. 1 SMU Mustangs at home, falling 13-7. Despite the loss, the Gamecocks recorded their highest raw score of the season at 1552.0. The Gamecocks tied with the Mustangs in Western 5-5, and were defeated in Jumping Seat 8-2. Junior captain Emma Lane earned her fifth MOP honor of the season in Reining. 

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

The No. 2 ranked Auburn Tigers last defeated South Carolina in the fall, 13-6 (Nov. 4). The Gamecocks saw two MOP honors on the day, with Madeline Schaefer earning the nod for her 89-86 win on Dento, and Emma Lane receiving the honor for her 72 on Sparky. Auburn leads the overall series 31-16.

The Tigers head into Friday’s meet coming off a huge upset against No. 1 SMU, defeating the Mustangs 15-5 at home.  Auburn picked up three MOPs on the day, coming from Freshman Alexia Tordoff in Reining, senior Ava Stearns in Fences, and Emma Kurtz on the Flat.
