COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, defeating Winthrop on Wednesday night before being swept by Kentucky over the weekend.

NOTES:
Gavin Casas belted three home runs on the weekend in Lexington, upping his total to 19 on the year. Casas and Ethan Petry (21) have a chance to be the first Gamecocks to both have 20 home runs in the same season since 1998 (Derick Urquhart, Tim Angiolini).
Carolina hit four home runs in the 6-1 win over Winthrop on Wednesday night. Cole Messina, Jonathan French, Will Tippett and Ethan Petry all homered as the Gamecocks won the midweek contest.
Dylan Brewer had a pair of extra-base hits in Sunday’s game against Kentucky, including his seventh home run of the season. Brewer is now hitting .276 with six doubles and seven home runs on the year and carries a 21-game reached base streak into Tuesday’s game against North Florida.
Carolina currently occupies the fifth seed in the SEC Tournament standings with two weeks left in the regular season. The Gamecocks are a half-game back of Florida for fourth and a half-game ahead of Kentucky for fifth.
