Baseball Hosts UNF in Tuesday Matinee

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The University of South Carolina baseball team hosts North Florida in the midweek for a Tuesday afternoon (May 9) contest at Founders Park. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

Tuesday’s game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.  All games also will be broadcast on the Gamecocks Sports Network from Learfield with Derek Scott and Tommy Moody on the call.

The Gamecocks were swept at Kentucky this past weekend. Gavin Casas had three home runs in the three games to up his total to 19 on the season.

PARKING INFORMATION
Shuttle parking for the University of South Carolina baseball season will be operational at the Key Road Gravel Lot (1105 Key Road). Shuttle begins two (2) hours prior to first pitch and continues until 1 hour after the game.

For GPS purposes, the address for the Key Road Gravel Lot is 1105 Key Road, Columbia, SC 29201.

GAME DAY PARKING INFORMATION (including public game day lots (PGDL: $10/$5 per game). All gameday lots are cashless. Please have a debit card or credit card ready for payment upon entry into parking lots.

SCOUTING UNF
The Ospreys swept North Alabama this past weekend on the road. Jakob Runnels drove in four in Saturday’s 9-3 victory. Austin Brinling is hitting .376 with 15 doubles and 25 RBI while Peter Holden leads the Ospreys with 70 strikeouts.

SERIES VS. UNF
Carolina has won all four meetings with North Florida, including last year’s 4-2 win over the Ospreys on April 12. Josiah Sightler was a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Eli Jones struck out three in a 2.2 inning start.

CASAS GETS CLOSE TO 20
Gavin Casas belted three home runs on the weekend in Lexington, upping his total to 19 on the year. Casas and Ethan Petry (21) have a chance to be the first Gamecocks to both have 20 home runs in the same season since 1998 (Derick Urquhart, Tim Angiolini).

PETRY MOVES INTO THE RECORD BOOKS
Freshman Ethan Petry now has the freshman record for home runs (21) and RBI (68) after his two-run double on April 22 broke Justin Smoak’s freshman RBI record, set in 2006. Petry now is two home runs away from breaking the SEC freshman mark set by Vanderbilt’s Pedro Alvarez and Georgia’s Charlie Condon.
