Donnie Gobourne Named All-SEC First Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – South Carolina pitcher Donnie Gobourne was named to the All-SEC First Team as announced by the Southeastern Conference Friday (May 12).

The All-SEC Teams consist of 21 student-athletes on the First Team, 21 student-athletes on the Second Team, and a nine-member All-Defensive Team. No ties were broken.

Gobourne becomes the first Gamecock to earn First Team honors since Alaynie Page in 2015. She is just the second pitcher in program history named to the First Team, joining former National Player of the Year Trinity Johnson (1997).

In conference play, Gobourne compiled a 6-4 record with a save. In 65 1-3 innings, she held an ERA of 2.79, including three shutouts and six complete games. She finished the year third in the SEC with 97 strikeouts. She was also third in the league with opponents batting just .156 against her.

On April 29, Gobourne threw a no-hitter against No. 17 Auburn, the first in SEC play by a Carolina pitcher since 2002. She also tossed a one-hitter against No. 11 Florida on April 2, where she struck out a season-high 15 batters. She also picked up a two-hit shutout over No. 23 Texas A&M on April 16.
