COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team went 1-3 on the week, falling to North Florida on Tuesday night and winning 1-of-3 games at No. 3 Arkansas this past weekend.

NOTES:
Jack Mahoney had an outstanding performance on the mound in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Arkansas. The Arlington Hts., Ill., native struck out six and allowed just five hits with no runs in seven innings of work. Mahoney is now 5-2 with a 3.94 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched.
Braylen Wimmer made a return to the lineup after injury and drove in a pair of runs in the weekend series at Arkansas. Wimmer is hitting .298 on the season with 38 RBI.
Eli Jones made the start on the mound Friday night and struck out a career high 10 batters in Friday’s game at Arkansas. Jones pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two runs with two walks. Jones’ ERA is at 3.40 with 52 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched.
Carolina currently resides in fifth place in the Southeastern Conference with one series remaining before the SEC Tournament. The top four seeds receive a bye into the double elimination portion of the tournament.
