Baseball Trio Named Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The University of South Carolina baseball trio of Matthew Becker, Caleb Denny and Evan Stone were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced this afternoon (Tuesday, May 16).

Becker is 4-2 on the season with a 4.70 earned-run-average and 61 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched. Denny has played in 43 games for the Gamecocks and has nine doubles, a triple, four home runs, 33 RBI and nine stolen bases. Stone has played in 45 games for Carolina and has 27 runs scored, three triples, three home runs and 16 RBI.

Becker, Denny and Stone are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.  Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball.

Carolina hosts Charlotte Tuesday night (May 16) at 7 p.m. at Founders Park. The game will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
