Olympe Lancelot Joins Women’s Tennis

Columbia, S.C. – ­South Carolina women’s tennis head coach Kevin Epley has announced the singing of Florida State transfer Olympe Lancelot to the team. Lancelot, of Lyon, France, will join the Gamecocks after spending her first two years of eligibility with the Seminoles.

Lancelot began her training at age 15 at the Elite Tennis Center in Cannes, France, where she was mentored by former top-100 player Jean-Rene Lisnardm.

While at Florida State, Lancelot claimed 11 victories in dual play during her first season, primarily playing at the bottom half of the singles lineup and at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions in doubles.

During her sophomore campaign, Lancelot stacked up an impressive 10-3 singles record in tournament play and went on to win four singles matches in dual play with the majority of them coming at the No. 3 position. Along with her 14 singles victories, she also tallied up 15 wins in doubles during the 2022-23 season.

Professionally, Lancelot has advanced to the singles quarterfinals of the Hammamet 15K (September 2017), Dijon 15K (July 2018), and the W15 Tabarka (August 2019) and has made the singles semifinals of the W15 Tabarka (July 2019) and W15 Tabarka (September 2019).

The France native achieved an ITF junior high of No. 138 and has a career high WTA ranking of No. 959. She had also competed at the Slam level before, having played in both the singles and doubles draws of the 2018 junior Roland Garros, advancing to the second round of the doubles draw. She has reached as high as N52 in the French national rankings and has a UTR of 10.00.
