LEXINGTON, Ky. – The South Carolina men’s soccer team kicks off Sun Belt Conference play Friday night (Sept. 15), when the Gamecocks travel to 24th ranked Kentucky for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Taking the Pitch

This will be the 23rd meeting between the Gamecocks and Wildcats.
The two sides met twice last season, the final match of the regular season in Columbia and in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Lexington.
Carolina’s last victory in the series came in 2016, a 2-1 victory in Columbia.
The Gamecocks are 2-7-2 on the road all-time against Kentucky.
South Carolina’s last road victory came on Nov. 2, 2012, a 1-0 win in the season finale.
Carolina owns six shutouts in the series.
The Wildcats have outscored the Gamecocks 29-25 all-time in the series.
South Carolina and Kentucky joined the Sun Belt together in 2022 after being members of Conference USA together.

Quick Notes

South Carolina’s match vs Winthrop on Tuesday was cancelled after inclement weather came in at halftime.
- The match was tied 0-0.
The Gamecocks tallied four goals in the match against Queens, their first four-goal match since scoring four against Winthrop on Sept. 9, 2022.
Carolina also earned five assists in the match, the first time they finished with five in a match since Sept. 5, 2006, against Centenary.
This is the 45th season of South Carolina men’s soccer.
The Gamecocks have an all-time record of 522-281-83.
South Carolina finished the regular season last year leading the nation in average attendance with 2,839 fans per game.
The Gamecocks begin their second season in the Sun Belt Conference.
Carolina was picked to finish fifth in the conference by the coaches.
Peter Clement and Adam Luckhurst will serve as team captains for the season.
The roster features 10 newcomers; five transfers and five true freshmen.
They return eight starters from a season ago, including four starters in the defensive end.
