Hoole Advances in Qualifying Draw

Tulsa, Okla. – South Carolina men’s tennis completed the first round of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships on Monday. The Gamecocks were represented by junior Casey Hoole and freshman Sean Daryabeigi in the qualifying draw.

No. 59 Hoole took on Tulsa’s Timothy Carlsson Seger in the first round of action. The Aussie was quick to dismiss his Swedish counterpart on his own home courts, defeating him 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the second round.

Hoole will face Columbia’s Nicolas Kotzen on Tuesday in the second round. His match will be played at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET.

Daryabeigi did not have the same fortune in the first round, falling to No. 84 Christian Lerby of Santa Clara University in a match that he was forced to retire due to injury while down 75-7, 2-5. He will have the opportunity to play in a consolation match on Tuesday where he is scheduled to fave Texas A&M’s Togan Tokac at 1:00 p.m. ET.
