No. 6 Gamecocks to Face No. 2 Stanford at Stephens Cup

DALLAS, Texas – No. 6 South Carolina finished T-4^th in the stroke play portion of the Stephens Cup advancing by way of tiebreak over No. 5 Texas A&M. The tiebreaker was low combined throw out score from each team’s counting five. The Gamecocks held a seven-shot edge over the Aggies there.

Sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand and junior All-American Louise Rydqvist each made clutch par saves on 18 to punch Carolina’s ticket to the third-place match against No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday.

Junior All-American Hannah Darling led the way today for the Gamecocks with a 2-under 70 thanks to four birdies and an eagle at the par-5 10^th hole. Her and Sandtorv Lussand paced the team with T-7^th finishes at 3-under overall for the tournament. It’s Sandtorv Lussand’s second career top-10 and first since the SEC Championship in April. It’s Darling’s first top-10 of the season and the 14^th of her career, which ties her with two-time All-American Katie Burnett (2008-12) for sixth-most all-time in program history.

Rydqvist finished T-12^th at 1-under as she finishes her fall with top-20s in all four of her starts, including her first career win at the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate

The freshmen French duo of Vai Heck and Maylis Lamoure each shot 74 (+2) in today’s final round. Lamoure T-20^th ad Heck T-26^th on the individual leaderboard.

The Gamecocks and Cardinal will tee off at 11:30 a.m. (ET) n the third-place match tomorrow. Darling will be off in the leadoff match against Stanford’s Caroline Sturdza. Golfstat will have live scoring and Golf Channel will provide TV coverage for the third-straight day from 4 to 7 p.m. (ET) at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
