Cross Country Returns to Spartanburg for Final Race of Regular Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 13, 2023) – South Carolina Cross Country will have one final tune up race before the 2023 SEC Championship on Oct. 27. The Gamecocks head to Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday to compete in the Upstate Invitational hosted by USC Upstate.

The Upstate Invitational is a 5K event and will commence at 9 a.m. Live results for Saturday’s event can be found by clicking here.

RUNNING THE COURSE
The Gamecocks will be running on familiar ground this weekend, competing at the Roger Milliken Center for the second time this season. The Gamecocks opened the season in the 2023 Eye Opener, running at the Roger Milliken Center. While there, Carolina finished fourth overall and saw Judy Kosgei break the program record in the 5K for the first time. Kosgei later shattered her own record at the Gamecock Challenge.

South Carolina will also run at the Roger Milliken Center in the 2023 Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 10.

NEARING THE FINAL TURN
Saturday’s event in Spartanburg will mark the final regular season meet for the Gamecocks. South Carolina will then turn its attention to hosting the 2023 SEC Cross Country Championship on Friday, Oct. 27 at Charwood Golf Club.

The Gamecocks will then focus on the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 10 in Spartanburg, S.C. with the hopes of qualifying for this year’s NCAA Championship the following week on Nov. 18 in Charlottesville, Va.

The Gamecocks will send a total of 23 student-athletes to compete this weekend: Kathleen Abrams, Anya Arroyo, Silan Ayyildiz, Anna Boyd, Sylvia Chelangat, Sarah DiVasta, Hope Dominique, Brooke Donoghue, Gabby Gait-Smith, Katerina Hendrix, Molly Joseph, Judy Kosgei, Sofie Kurzawa, Maria Lombardi, Sarah Neville, Molly Parker, Aubrey Pierontoni, Claudia Satzke, Emma Torbert, Lily Weeks, Greta White, Ally Wilson and Ella Zeigler.
