Sophie Mitchell Named SEC Flat Rider of the Month

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Junior Sophie Mitchell has been named the October SEC Flat Rider of the Month, as announced by the conference on Thursday. This marks the first SEC Rider of the Month award for Mitchell’s career. It is also the fourth SEC Rider of the Month nod for a Gamecock so far this season.

Mitchell started off the month of October with a bang, securing a point for the Gamecocks on the Flat against SDSU (80-77), earning her first career MOP for her ride on Mia. The junior then rounded out the month in the same fashion, taking down her opponent from No. 2 Auburn on the road 89-85 on Rex and picking up her second MOP of the season. Mitchell now holds a record of 4-3-1 in the event.

Mitchell and the rest of the Gamecocks will be back in action at home on Nov. 17, as they face Oklahoma State at 10:00 a.m.
