Goffi Inks Pair for 2024

Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi has announced the signing of a pair of recruits for the 2024-25 season. Gabe Avram and Max Stenzer with both join the team in the fall of 2024 with four years of eligibility.

“Johnny (Parkes) and I are so excited to kick off the 2024 class with Max and Gabe!” said Goffi. “These guys have impressed me with their growth, as players and people, throughout the recruiting process. They’ve shown that they can grow into becoming leaders for this next generation of Gamecocks. Max and Gabe are both great additions and will represent Gamecock Nation with pride.”

Avram, of Charlotte, N.C., will join the team in the fall of 2024. He is a five-star recruit and the No. 3 recruit in the state of North Carolina (via tennisrecruiting.net). He has been ranked as high as No. 11 in the national rankings (December 6. 2022) and was previously ranked No. 1 in the TennisRPI rankings as a blue-chip recruit (June 16, 2022).

Avram trains at the Olde Providence Racquet Club in Charlotte and in 2022 was named to the All Charlotte Observer’s Boys’ First Team in singles after putting up a 15-0 performance for the Carmel Christian School. He was also named to the NCISAA All State team that season for leading his team to a post-season appearance.

Avram has a current singles UTR of 12.38 and doubles UTR of 11.93

Stezner, of Monchengladbach, Germany will join the team in the fall of 2024. He currently sits at a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 71.

As a junior, Stenzer claimed his first career singles title at the J5 in Abidjan, West Africa, after entering the draw as a qualifier. He has since claimed his second career ITF title at the J200 in Targu Jiu, Romania, in May of this year.

Stenzer has also claimed a pair of title in doubles, his first at the J4 Schifflange in 2021 and his second at the J100 Monchengladbach in August.

He currently sits at a singles UTR of 12.43 and a doubles UTR of 12.17
