Gamecocks Welcome Notre Dame for ACC/SEC Challenge Tuesday

Undefeated South Carolina seeking to extend its best start to a season since 2016-17 Final Four campaign

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (5-0) returns home for the ACC/SEC Challenge against Notre Dame (3-2) on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (ET) with Tom Hart (pxp) and Dane Bradshaw (analyst) on the call for the SEC Network broadcast.

The non-conference matchup will be the first between the two programs since 1984. The two schools played 15 straight seasons from 1969-1984. The first ever meeting between the two schools was a top-25 matchup on a neutral floor at the Sugar Bowl Classic in New Orleans on Dec. 30, 1969. Carolina edged Notre Dame, 84-83, in overtime despite All-American Austin Carr pouring in 43 points for the Irish.

The ACC/SEC Men’s Challenge will take place over back-to-back days Tuesday, Nov. 28 and Wednesday, Nov. 29, while the ACC/SEC Women’s Challenge is slated for Nov. 29 and 30. Both men’s and women’s Challenge events will feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network. A full list of the matchups is available here.

The Gamecocks are 5-0 this season and off to the team’s best start since beginning the year 8-0 during the 2016-17 Final Four season. Carolina has been off since a pair of wins out west over DePaul (Nov. 17) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 19) en route to a title at the Arizona Tip-Off.
