COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team had a 4-1 week, defeating Winthrop and Queens in the midweek and winning 2-of-3 games against Belmont.

NOTES:
Dylan Brewer continued his hot start at the plate this week, going 11-for-17 (.647) with six runs scored, a double, a triple, two walks and five RBI. Brewer was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI in the 8-2 win over Belmont on Friday and also had three hits in the Tuesday win vs. Winthrop. He had seven hits in the Belmont series and is now hitting .560 on the year.

Talmadge LeCroy scored 10 runs in the five games this week, upping his season total to 16, which leads the SEC. LeCroy is hitting .391 with five RBI and 11 walks on the season.

Eli Jones threw three innings on Friday as a 2:24 rain delay cut his outing short. Jones struck out three in three hitless innings and now has a 1.00 ERA after two starts in 2024.

Kennedy Jones drove in three runs and had a home run to lead off the first for the Gamecocks in Sunday’s 12-1 win. Jones was making his first start in left field on Sunday.

Cole Messina belted three home runs on the week, driving in seven runs including a pair of round trippers in Sunday’s 12-1 win over Belmont.

Carolina hosts Gardner-Webb on Tuesday before the annual three-game set against Clemson, which begins on Friday at Founders Park.
