No. 5 Gamecocks Take On SDSU For Regular Season Finale

BLYTHEWOOD, SC – The No. 5 ranked South Carolina Equestrian team (6-6) is set to host South Dakota State University (3-5) for the final meet of the 2023-24 regular season. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1st at One Wood Farm. Please note – umbrellas are NOT allowed at One Wood Farm.

The Gamecocks had a tight match with SEC foe Georgia (Feb. 24), coming back from a 2-8 deficit at the half to get things within one (8-9), ultimately falling in the last two rides for a final score of 9-11.

Despite the loss, sophomore Bella Primavera posted a new season-high in Fences, defeating Tessa Downey 87-79 on Schnitzel. For her ride, Primavera received her first career MOP.

Friday’s meet will be the second this season (12-8 win, Sept. 29), and the 10th all-time. South Carolina leads the series 8-1, having won six of the last eight matchups.

The Jackrabbits head into the meet coming off a 14-6 win against Minnesota Crookston, sweeping the MOPs against the Golden Eagles. SDSU saw MOPs from Cali Karbler, Hannah Steele, Grace Gerbus, and Paige Butterfield on Senior Day.
