COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team split its four-game week, winning a Tuesday night game over Georgia State in North Augusta and winning 1-of-3 games at Ole Miss.

NOTES:
The Gamecocks won the Sunday game of the Ole Miss series, 6-2, as Matthew Becker pitched 5.1 innings of relief and Talmadge LeCroy drove in a pair of runs with a double in a three-run fifth.

Becker had a season high 5.1 innings and was just off his career high of six innings, set against Texas during his freshman season in 2022. This year, Becker is 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched.

Kennedy Jones had a great weekend at Ole Miss, going 7-for-12 with three runs scored, two doubles, a home run and two RBI. He had the home run on Saturday, part of a three-hit performance. Jones has his batting average up to .388 with four doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI in 16 games and 13 starts.

Parker Noland also had a good weekend at the plate, going 6-for-12 with two runs scored and an RBI. He led off Sunday’s win and was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Noland is hitting .257 with four doubles and 10 RBI this season.

Garrett Gainey finished off Sunday’s win with two scoreless frames in a non-save situation. This season, Gainey has made six appearances with 17 strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched to go along with a 0.87 ERA and two saves.

Carolina finishes up its trip away from home on Tuesday with a game at Fluor Field against USC Upstate. The Gamecocks then host Vanderbilt Friday-Sunday in their first SEC home series.
