Gamecocks End Sunday With Sweep of Jacksonville

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Gamecock beach volleyball split a pair of Sunday duals in their final day of the CCSA Midseason Tournament, hosted by Florida State. South Carolina fell to No. 8 LSU in the morning, 5-0, but rallied back to defeat Jacksonville by the same margin in the weekend finale. Following their final dual of the month, the Gamecocks will head into an off weekend and the end of March with an 11-9 overall record.

Against the Tigers, South Carolina was on the wrong side of tight set scores up and down the lineup. Over the 10 total sets played, five were decided by the minimum two points and all five went for LSU as the Tigers swept the team score. The team responded well in the dual against Jacksonville, sweeping on courts one through four to clinch the team victory early. The dual would close with a three-set comeback win from Skylar Allen and Allison Coens on court one.

The team has an off weekend to close the month of March. The next competition will be back at home, April 6-7, with the Palmetto Invitational. South Carolina will host UNCW, UT Martin, Morehead State and Mercer with two duals each day.
