Ford Lands Pair of Weekly Honors
COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 2, 2024) – Another meet, another weekly award for South Carolina Track & Field star freshman, JaMeesia Ford. This go round, Ford has earned both the USTFCCCA National Women’s Runner of the Week as well as the SEC Women’s Runner of the Week.
Ford recorded three first place finishes in the Pepsi Florida Relays over the weekend, including the No. 1 time in the NCAA in the 200m (22.37) and a pair of NCAA top-five relay times. She was part of the 4×100 relay that took the top spot in 43.34 and the 4×400 relay that finished first in 3:28.57. The 4×100 time is the seventh-fastest in Gamecock history and ranks second in the NCAA, while the 4×400 time is ranked fifth in the NCAA and 10th in program history. Her time in the 200m stands as the fastest wind-legal mark in March in collegiate history.
Ford and the Gamecocks are back at it this weekend when South Carolina plays host to the Gamecock Invitational on Saturday, April 6 at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
