Baseball Drops Friday Contest to Texas A&M
COLUMBIA – Texas A&M scored seven runs in the first three innings of play in a 9-2 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team Friday night (April 5) at Founders Park.
The Aggies scored four times on five hits in the first and added three more in the third as Texas A&M had 13 hits on the night. Aggie starter Ryan Prager struck out 12 Gamecocks in 6.1 innings.
Talmadge LeCroy got Carolina on the board with a solo home run in the second. Carolina added a run in the seventh on Parker Noland’s RBI single that plated Dylan Brewer.
Cole Messina had two hits, including a double, to lead Carolina’s offense. Eli Jones took his first loss of the year, allowing seven runs and eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 2.2 innings. Roman Kimball came in and struck out four in 3.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits. Joey Wittig struck out the side in the seventh and Michael Polk and Dylan Eskew combined for three punchouts in the final two frames.
