Baseball Falls to Texas A&M Saturday Afternoon

COLUMBIA  – Texas A&M scored three runs in the top of the first on its way to a 6-3 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team Saturday afternoon (April 6) at Founders Park. The Aggies clinched a series win heading into Sunday’s game.

Gavin Grahovac led off the game with a solo home run, part of the three-run first that featured three hits. The Aggies added a run in the third, but Carolina had two runs in the bottom of the third. Dalton Reeves singled with one out. He went to second on Lee Ellis’ single. Kennedy Jones singled to right and Reeves scored on an Aggie error. Tyler Causey then reached on an infield single to score Ellis.

Texas A&M had a run in the fifth to make it 5-2. Gavin Casas’ pinch hit solo home run in the eighth cut the lead to two runs but A&M plated a run in the ninth for the final margin.

Ty Good was great in relief, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing an unearned run and two hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Tyler Pitzer took the loss, allowing four hits and four runs with two strikeouts and three walks in 2.1 innings.

Reeves and Talmadge LeCroy had two hits apiece in the nine-hit attack.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • Gavin Casas hit Carolina’s first pinch hit home run since Jack Mahoney did it on May 19, 2022 at Florida.
  • Good had season highs in innings pitched and strikeouts in Saturday’s game.
  • Parker Noland had his eighth double of the season, which is second on the team.
