COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina softball team earned an at-large spot in the NCAA Tournament Sunday night (May 12), as the Gamecocks will travel to Duke for the Durham Regional.

The Gamecocks take on Utah Friday (May 17) in the opening round at noon on ESPNU while host Duke takes on Morgan State at 2:30 p.m.

Carolina earns its 24th all-time bid to the NCAA tournament and its ninth under head coach Beverly Smith. The Gamecocks enter after advancing to the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals. South Carolina has taken down nine nationally ranked opponents so far this season, including then-No. 13 Utah back on February 15.

South Carolina and Utah met at the Puerto Valletta College Challenge in Mexico, with the Gamecocks earning a 9-1 run-rule victory. South Carolina leads the all-time series 6-4. It will be the first meeting between the two teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Complete game times and television designations for the regional will be announced later.
