COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina closed out the regular season, falling in three games at Tennessee.

NOTES:
Cole Messina was 6-for-11 with three runs scored and his 16th home run of the season in the Tennessee series. Messina goes into the SEC Tournament leading the team with a .312 batting average and is tied for fourth in the league with 18 doubles.

Carolina finished the SEC season in a five-way tie for seventh place. The Gamecocks went 6-3 against the teams that they place that are in the tie for seventh (3-0 vs. Vanderbilt, 2-1 vs. Florida, 1-2 vs. Alabama).

The Gamecocks are the No. 10 seed in the SEC Tournament and will face Alabama on Tuesday at approximately 1 p.m. CDT. The Gamecocks have faced Alabama four times in school history in the tournament. Carolina defeated the Crimson Tide, 9-5, in the 2009 edition.

Carolina enters tournament week with a No. 19 RPI and the No. 7 strength of schedule. The Gamecocks have nine Quad 1 wins and have 27 Quad 1 games. Carolina also has played each of the top seven RPI teams in the country.
