Women’s Tennis Releases Fall Schedule

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis head coach Kevin Epley released his team’s Fall 2024 schedule today, including some new events created by a change in the NCAA Individual Championships schedule and format. For the next two seasons four ITA events from September through early November will produce the field of 64 singles and 32 double entries for the NCAA Individual Championships that will take place Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.

Before launching into their championship qualifying events, South Carolina will open the season at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic Sept. 13-15.

Select Gamecocks will participate in pre-qualifying, qualifying and/or main draw rounds of the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., Sept. 21-29. From this event, 10 singles players – eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists – will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, and four doubles teams – four main draw semifinalists – will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Next up, South Carolina will play in the ITA Carolina Regional Oct. 17-22 in Chapel Hill, N.C. This season’s format will see two singles finalists from each of the 13 regionals (26 total players) and the doubles champion from each regional (13 total doubles teams) qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, respectively.

Two new ITA events that lead to qualifying for NCAA Individual Championships were created this season and will take place concurrently Nov. 7-10 for those who have not qualified through the first two events.

The 2024 Conference Masters Championship is set for San Diego, Calif., and will include 32 singles and 32 doubles entries. Each NCAA Division I conference that is automatic qualifier eligible will designate one singles player and one doubles team to participate in the event. The four singles semifinalists and three doubles entries (finalists and third place) will qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.

The 2024 ITA Sectional Championships will be played in four locations and send a total of 24 singles and 12 doubles qualifiers to the NCAA Individual Championships. Only players and doubles teams who have yet to earn entry into the NCAA Championships and have made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships are eligible to participate. The Gamecocks are in the East Section, which will be played in Chapel Hill, N.C. At each sectional, the two semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners will advance to NCAA Singles Championship, and the two doubles finalists and the third-place duo will advance to the NCAA Doubles Championship.
