
Baseball Defeats Gardner-Webb in Seven; Wins Ninth in a Row
COLUMBIA – The University of South Carolina baseball team belted out 15 hits and scored nine runs in its final three innings as the Gamecocks defeated Gardner-Webb, 14-4, in seven innings Tuesday night (Feb. 25) at Ray Tanner Field at Founders Park.
Carolina had five home runs on the night, two coming off the bat of Jase Woita, who now leads the team with three round-trippers. Max Kaufer and KJ Scobey each hit their first home run as a Gamecock and Nathan Hall had his second of the season, a three-run shot to left.
Woita had three hits on the night, while Hall, Ethan Petry and Kennedy Jones had two hits apiece. Ten different Gamecocks had hits on the night.
Jarvis Evans earned the win on the mound, allowing three hits and two runs with a strikeout in two innings pitched. Jackson Soucie had two strikeouts and allowed an earned run in two innings. Carolina used seven pitchers in the seven-inning contest.
POSTGAME NOTES
