Baseball Falls at No. 3 Arkansas Saturday Afternoon

FAYETTEVILLE – No. 3 Arkansas scored eight runs in the first inning in a 12-3 win over the University of South Carolina baseball team Saturday afternoon (March 22) at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas sent 14 men to the plate in the first, scoring eight runs. The big hits were a three-run home run from Brent Iredale and a two-run single by Wehiwa Aloy.

Carolina scored three runs in the top of the second. Jordan Carrion delivered an RBI single that scored Jase Woita. A Nathan Hall fielder’s choice brought in the second run and a wild pitch scored Carrion. Arkansas added a pair in the third on Charles Davalon’s home run to left.

Arkansas ended the scoring with a single run in the fifth and sixth innings.

Carrion and KJ Scobey had two hits apiece for the Gamecocks. Jake McCoy took the loss, allowing four earned runs and four hits in two-thirds of an inning.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • Hall extended his hit streak to 14 games.
  • Zach Russell and Jackson Soucie combined for 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.
  • Scobey and Carrion both have three hits in the series.
