Harris Named SEC Golfer of the Week

Redshirt junior helped lead No. 20 South Carolina's comeback in the final round at Bulls Bay Golf with bogey free 64 (-8) on Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Redshirt junior Frankie Harris was tabbed SEC Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. He shares the honors this week with Florida sophomore Luke Poulter.

Harris helped the team come from 10 shots back to T-1st at the conclusion of the final round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate thanks to his bogey free 64 (-8). The Boca Raton, Fla. native was runner-up medalist after matching his career low 54-hole total of 204 with scores of 71-69-64 at Bulls Bay Golf Club.

He made 14 birdies and just two bogeys over the course of three days at the event. This marks his third career SEC Player of the Week honor in two seasons as a Gamecock.

Harris now has three top-five finishes this season to lead the team and seven for his career just 17 collegiate starts.

The 20th ranked South Carolina squad concludes the regular season in two weeks at The Invitational at The Ford (April 14-15) in Richmond Hill, Ga. The SEC Championship will follow April 23-25 at Sea Island Golf Club in Saint Simons Island, Ga.
